These guys can’t run government, they can only tear it apart.
How can the enemies of government be trusted to run it well? They can’t, and
now people are in danger, big time.
Small government here means dirty water, the kind of water
that makes people sick. All due to another outrageously bad decision by the
Republicans, so they could save a few bucks.
WSJ: Until a year ago, Wisconsin had a law requiring the treatment of all municipal drinking water systems. The Republican-controlled Legislature rescinded it … At least 60 Wisconsin communities do not treat drinking water to kill contaminants … a two-year study was among the first to closely link the presence of viruses in tap water to sickness in people drinking that water. The evidence in the study was so powerful that it resulted, even before its formal publication, in a state law in Wisconsin that required treatment of all municipal drinking water systems in the state.
Take note of the irresponsible Republican numskull who basically
saved a few bucks for...what exactly?
That law was rescinded by the Republican-controlled state Legislature a year ago. State Rep. Erik Severson, R-Star Prairie, sponsored an amendment that removed the requirement, arguing that the rule was an unnecessary financial and bureaucratic burden on communities with already strong water standards.
He hit all the right small government, on the taxpayer side
bullshit conservative low information voters love to hear.
At least 60 communities in Wisconsin do not treat drinking water with chlorine or ultraviolet light, both of which kill the contaminants … the source of viruses was likely wastewater coming from leaking sanitary sewers.Hey, we cut bureaucracies and spending. How’d that work out?
That Borchardt's study has prompted the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to begin a nationwide sampling program that could eventually result in a federal rule requiring treatment … The higher the virus concentration, the higher the rate of illness found in each community … when norovirus was very common in one community's tap water, the proportion of illness in children younger than 5 years old attributable to their drinking water could have been as high as 63 percent. And we're doing it for our kid’s future too. Welcome to Walker’s Wisconsin. Feeling the freedom and liberty yet?
I happen to know Dr. Severson personally. He would not endanger public health. As physician he's dedicated life to promoting health.
ReplyDeleteI happen to know Wisconsinites that drink water in some of the "Virus Towns" personally.
ReplyDeleteTheir health is proven to be in danger from toxic viruses in untreated drinking water.
An ethical, competent, and trustworthy physician dedicated to promoting health would never intentionally put thousands of people at risk of illness and even death like Severson did.
I wonder where he went to medical school, Kevorkian College?
You know him personally, and you know he wouldn't do...what he did.
ReplyDeleteYou were apparently mistaken. Some people are self-righteous ideologues, like most conservatives I know. Public safety plays second fiddle to smaller government or saving money. Look at Ryan as the poster boy. We take our chances, and ain't that freedom?
