Walker, Beggar and Chief, Embarrasses State before a National Audience as he Pleads for his Job.

If you've watched any of the goings on at the collection of dopes at CPAC, you might have come away with the feeling that this might be the 20th century's version of a carnival barker's convention, with grandiose offers of snake oil economics and rabbit-out-of-the-hat job creation.

But more pathetic than being sold the same failed potions of voodoo economics, was the deer-in-the-headlights look of Wisconsin's endangered governor Scott Walker. Lazy eyes himself got up and pleaded and begged the rest of the country to save his job in the badger state. Scott, you might want to try and make your case to Wisconsin voters who just found out the budget isn't balanced and that we've been bleeding jobs for over six months.

Check out the intro by drunk RNC chief Reince Priebus...
Priebus: "The public union bosses are angry and refuse to go down without a fight. They're pulling out every trick in the book, because after all, hornets are always angriest when you try to destroy their nests."

...and Walker's sad plea for money:

Walker: "Lord help us if we fail. I'm not planning on it, but if we were to fail, I think this sets aside any courageous act in American politics for at least a decade if not a generation. When we prevail, it will send a powerful message to every politician in America, that if you stand up and do the right thing, if you tackle the tough challenges, if you make the tough choices, there will be men and women in every state and every part of this country who will stand up shoulder to shoulder, arm in arm with you. We need your help financially.  Just one dollar, one dollar can be another phone call made. It can be another flier printed. It can be a piece of a radio or TV ad. Every bit counts."

But union money is sparse, and getting harder to come by everyday. Especially after Wisconsin, Indiana and Arizona have cut into their support dramatically. You'd never know it by the whiny tantrums thrown by the right wing over their influence in elections.

As Rachel Maddow has pointed out in the past with the picture here, the only ones controlling our elections will be conservative groups and big corporate donors.

While unions should not be able to support political candidates, which is exactly what Walker and others have wrongly said in the past (see the short video below), big corporate dollars and wealthy donors somehow still have a constitutional right to buy our officials.

Conservative voters never get around to asking the reason how that can be. They also don't seem to care about what would happen when labor is shut out completely. The odd truth for Republicans is that union have no right influencing elections, like big corporate businesses. Watch the video of Romney' campaign policy policy director and lackey saying exactly that:

  1. Do you know the names of those 10 organizations in the Maddow photo? Can't read them. Thanks!
