False alarm. Rep. Fred Clark’s supposedly "threatened" a rude Baraboo constituent who hung up on him, saying "I feel like calling her back and smacking her around." An angry figure of speech to be sure. Not an actual threat as portrayed here. The big clue...
..."CALLING HER BACK!!!" This isn't a Bugs Bunny cartoon where a hand comes out of the phone and physically assaults the person on the other end. So Clark never "physically" threatened anyone. But the Fox News network of character assassination squads are never far away from setting their sights on another Democratic target.
Conservative talkers, free of opposing liberal talk radio programming, will muster up as much phony outrage and negative propaganda as their mean spirited, policy free agenda, can produce.
Thank god Clark didn't say "going to the mat," "lob grenades back and forth," "verbal joust" or "unload on" her. Can you imagine...what they would have imagine?
Sue Stapelman is not only inarticulately rude to Clark, but can’t properly hang up a phone. That kinda happens when you rudely hang up hard on someone. At least she was able to turn Clark in to the local right wing politically correct police...WISGOP.WISGOP reported:

I bet the people of Olsen's district have a different idea about how you talk to a lady--even one you consider rude. But go ahead with whatever rationalization you can. Perhaps Clark can go work for Weiner. Don't democrats have any respect for women? (I know, you love it that women can abort your children and republicans don't)

I'm a women's libber personally, choice, equal pay, respect, and haven't used the word lady since saying the Styx song title.
She was rude, but that's okay, she's a rude conservative. He also didn't say what he said to her face out of disrespect, and never meant anything physical blah blah blah...
I know you lost your train of thought already. So nice try, but I'm sticking with my assumption that conservatives, your a perfect example, will fake phony outrage.

ReplyDeleteSure, I'm smug, but isn't it a little smug to leap to this guy's defense--unless you would do so despite party affiliation, of course.
The point here is that Mr. Clark has two faces. One for when the camera is on and another for when the camera is off. These people are hard to read or trust. This is revealing in that it demonstrates what he thinks about people and suggests poor character, that when slightly provoked or slightly stressed, Clark's out of answers.
As a woman's libber, you should be well schooled in the prohibitions lefty groups constantly advertise against such language. I just think you on the left should follow your own rules.
"Lady" is a term of respect. As in she carries herself like a young "lady."
I think I can follow your train of thought quite well. You're right that I'm not particularly ourtaged about the comments, nor by your "blame it on fox" defense. I just wonder why you are more "outraged" be FOX than disappointed in Clark? Again, you claim you are a woman's libber but never in your post mention even mild disappointment in Clark's comment.
Lady is an outdated term that diminishes a woman's importance.

Clark did demonstrate in his comment what he thought of someone so rude. It's not what he thinks of people, but rude partisan people.
I mentioned it was an angry comment in my post, that was my acknowledgement of his choice of commentary. It wasn't meant for hear ears, or an actual threat.
So the point? A none issue blown out of proportion. I did have a point, and blogged it.
I appreciate your comments never the less. Civil and clearly stated. Unfortunately, we're on different sides of the social issues this situation presents. Lady is subjective, I understand that, but dated in my opinion.
I wish more conservatives were like you.
