Conservatives aren't racists, they just like racist mascots. Seek to declare "Indian Mascot Law" unconstitutional.

There's something to the old saying, "pick your battles." The following story reaffirms the notion that those who support the continued use of Indian mascots, or for that matter, want to take our country back from...a black president, are racists. What a battle to unabashedly pick! 

Livinglakecountry: Mukwonago residents Rusty Schoolcraft and Craig Vertz, through the law firm of Crivello Carlson, filed a Motion for Summary Judgment today seeking a final order from the Waukesha County Circuit Court declaring Wisconsin's Indian Mascot Law unconstitutional.  

 The plaintiffs allege that the nickname and mascot law violates the Fourteenth Amendment in that the law and related administrative code provisions establish a process and procedure that is surrounded by the DPI's "clear bias which disfavors school districts once any disgruntled resident files a complaint with the DPI.” The June 1 filings seek a finding that the law is unconstitutional and demonstrate … an "undeniable bias against the use of Native American-related nicknames prior to the hearing that involved Mukwonago. 

Now for some comments:

It’s not Racist, these names and mascots have been used for years. Leave ‘em be … Talk about too much government - I don't need legislators wasting their times on state laws about mascot names… If that one "overly sensitive" student doesnt like it...go to a different school!! … You liberals have ruined society by trying to instill ur morals and believes on everybody else and when u lose, you try to sue …

Oh the irony; it’s okay to instill conservative values…? And as I've mentioned a number of times in my blog, the continuing Republican theme of not governing, but “winning.”

Finally, one sane comment:

I for one am sick of it. Just because it has been tradition doesn't make it right. "Indians" is not a name of honor, nor are actions like the tomahawk chop, war whoops, and picking on Native American students. They seem to be one of the last groups of human beings to be treated as such. We have never been a country of acceptance, and the comments here simply prove that we live in a selfish society where people would never walk a mile in someone else's shoes. No empathy, no sympathy, and all "me and only people like me." Shame on all of us.
