Out of 300 People at Public Hearing, no one supported Gov. Walker's plans in Oshkosh.

It looks like Scott Walker's going to have a harder time dismissing the crowd coming out against him in Oshkosh. This is his area of support. Trouble ahead? 

Oshkosh – Rep. Hintz (D-Oshkosh) hosted a State Budget public hearing in Oshkosh on Saturday, April 9th. All area legislators from both parties were invited … With one Republican, Rep. Dick Spanbauer (R-Oshkosh), in attendance.

While only a few public hearings were attended by smaller groups, this one was a turning point. Check out how many opposed Walker:

Over 300 people attended throughout the day. 239 people registered against Governor Walker’s State Budget while no one registered in favor. 43 individuals spoke against the bill about their concerns and 2 individuals spoke in favor. 1 person spoke for information purposes only. 

Rep. Hintz said, “I was surprised that only 2 of the over 300 people that attended spoke or registered in support of the Budget.”

What were the complaints?

“People expressed valid concerns about how this bill will affect their families and our community. Concerns expressed to us included opposition to UW Madison splitting from the UW System and the harm this will have on the Oshkosh campus. We also heard from people upset about the state redirecting funding from public K-12 schools to private schools. Many people testified about healthcare concerns. They spoke about how changes to Family Care, SeniorCare, BadgerCare, and women’s health and family planning services will directly negatively affect their families.”
