The Avalanche that is “Citizens United.”

It’s has started, the monied takeover of America, and will eventually dominate our political landscape like nothing before it, thanks to an activist conservative Supreme Court that determined money IS free speech. The media accepted the courts overreach as if nothing had happened. The obvious activism of the Citizens United decision didn’t mesh with the more popular concept of liberal activism. Conservatives hold the high ground on constitutional matters, or so the story goes, and the media has recognized the myth.

A government created entity with expanded rights, the corporation, can now spend freely. But who could have predicted a major “news” network to outwardly support one crazy right wing party without fear of losing its credibility?

Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. gave $1 million to the Republican Governors Association (RGA) this year, Bloomberg reported. The company owns Fox News and the New York Post. "News Corporation believes in the power of free markets, and the RGA's pro-business agenda supports our priorities at this most critical time for our economy," a spokesperson told Politico.

From Hari Sevugan, national press secretary of the DNC: "'Fair and balanced' has been rendered utterly meaningless. Any pretense that may have existed about the ties between Fox News and the Republican Party has been ripped violently away. "No Republican who appears on Fox can be seen as answering to an independent press and all should appear with a disclaimer for who they truly are -- the favored candidate of the corporate-friendly network. No Fox News's political coverage can be seen as impartial and all of it should have a disclaimer for what it truly is -- partisan propaganda."
