Wisconsin Republicans Shocking Unabashed Racism Opposing Election Reform Goes Unchallenged. Still Believe "That's not what we mean" excuse?

Which of the following proposals for election reform, and the argument against many of the changes, strike you as breath takingly racist?

JSonline: A voter's ballot in most cases could only be challenged by election observers who live in the same ward, under a sweeping elections overhaul moving quickly through the Legislature. Republicans blasted the change, saying it would lead to less qualified poll watchers.
I think they mean less "qualified" black poll watchers. In fact, I'm sure that's what they mean. It would be crazy not to have white Republican watchers shipped in to their inner city districts, just for balance. Why are media reporters not bringing up the obvious implication of the GOP's opposition. Would it paint them as liberal? Is it introducing race where there is no actual mention of race?
The 72-page bill also calls for automatically registering voters when they renew their driver's licenses - a national first - and for making it easier for soldiers stationed overseas to vote. Republicans embraced the provisions for military voters.
How transparent is it for Republicans to "embrace" easier military voting, a reliable conservative block, but oppose all other options? Will the media point out the obvious?

But that's not all. There's also an unmistakable racist reason to oppose automatic registration with drivers license renewals. Republican State Sen. Glenn Grothman shocked me with this outrageous statement:
"It seems to me that this bill is designed to assist the lazy and uninformed."
I'd like to know who he's talking about; lazy farmers, the wealthy hard working business elite, military veterans, white voters in Milwaukee…? Gee, I wonder.

I'm also wondering when voters will get fed up with elected politicians who say they "don't have time to read the bill."
Sen. Glenn Grothman (R-West Bend), who questioned whether he would have time to read the bill before voting on it Thursday.
Its odd many Republicans don't have the time to READ their own legislative bills, especially when they're just 72 pages, and still expect a paycheck and benefits. Isn't this what they were hired to do?
Funny, this overly zealous pursuit of possible election fraud in Wisconsin ignores the most recent evidence of Republican criminality. It's not citizen fraud that's dangerous, it's electioneering from the officials overseeing polls. My previous blog:

Bradblog: All eight (Republican) defendants in Clay County, Kentucky's election fraud trial have been found guilty today by a federal jury. Six of those eight were high-ranking election officials, including the county clerk, a circuit judge and the school superintendent. The conspirators were charged with having manipulated federal elections in 2002, 2004 and 2006 by buying and selling votes and manipulating electronic voting machines.

According to AP, each of the now-convicted felons (were a part of) a conspiracy to manipulate elections for decades in the rural, heavily Republican county … several of the defendants were also convicted of charges that included mail fraud, extortion and laundering money used to buy votes. The greatest security threat to such systems come from election insiders, not from the voting public and dubious claims of "voter fraud".

  1. The reality is the majority of voters in Milwaukee's inner city are democrats. Do you honestly believe they're going to "watch" the voter's in their own democratic ward. And with regard to the automatic registration provision, this only provides a comprehensive database, accessible by both parties. About 2/3 of Wisconsin voters do not regularly vote. How convenient to have a database of names and information with which to use to, how should I say, cheat? The last election proved the widespread voting fraud by the democrats. If they really wanted to be fair, they would require picture ID at the time of voting. After all, if they got the driver's license, what's the problem. And I'm sick and tired of liberal accusations of "racism". You just marginalize anyone who opposes your views and never, never debate the issues based on any statistics or reality (or even common sense). Why is it you don't want to debate the issues. Why is it you just resort to name calling?

  2. Sorry, your wrong about voting fraud by Democrats. Prove the party affiliation please. Point me to the story.

Milwaukee had felons, a couple voting twice at their second home and main home, voter REGISTRATION fraud to make quotas for a paycheck (didn't result in anyone voting twice).

Name the "Democrats." Not one story in the JSonline has mentioned political affilitation, which I wish they would.

I provided an example of Republican voter fraud. Not an issue for you?

Racism is racism. If you're tired of being accused of racism, don't be a racist and denounce Grothman.

My view is that people shouldn't be racist, and should be called out for being one. NO PASSES.

The issue I'm talking about are in the blog, maybe you missed them. Reform is needed, and the list given is a great step forward.

Give up on the "name calling" cliche' I'm so tired of it. Come up with factual reasons why Grothman's comments aren't racist.
