Right now, Barack Obama is acquiescing to Republican demands in a way that yanks the teeth out of plan to stimulate the economy. Compromise has been the Democratic downfall for years. Having said that, the spending and public works aspect to Obama's plan has history stamp of approval, but you wouldn't know that listening to conservative ideologues determined to protect the parties turf, despite its massive failure.
