Here Ye, Here Ye! We're Going Negative So You'll Like Us More Says McCain Campaign

When you have nothing good to say, then...tell Sarah Palin to say it. The McCain campaign is already out of topics, like what they would do to take the country in a new direction, tighten regulations on greedy capitalism and act like an adult applying for the top job in the country. Ooops, must have forgotten my morning drink of cool aide...

How did she find out about (Bill) Ayers, by the way? The woman who couldn't tell Katie Couric which newspapers she likes to read finally found something that interested her in The New York Times, a paper that is supposed to be her sworn enemy. Fancy that. Palin was barking about Obama at the same time it was being reported that McCain's campaign wants to "change the subject" from the economy to Obama's character, as if turning away from the economy could possibly happen in the financial crisis of 2008.

Washington Post:

"We're going to get a little tougher," a senior Republican operative said, indicating that a fresh batch of television ads is coming. "We've got to question this guy's associations. Very soon. There's no question that we have to change the subject here," said the operative, who was not authorized to discuss strategy and spoke on the condition of anonymity. "Senator McCain's campaign has announced that they plan to turn the page on the discussion about our economy and spend the final weeks of this campaign launching Swift Boat-style attacks on me," Obama told a crowd of thousands on the football field of Asheville High School. "Senator McCain and his operatives are gambling that he can distract you with smears rather than talk to you about substance. ... I want you to know that I'm going to keep on talking about issues that matter."

Tucker Bounds, a McCain spokesman, defended his campaign's strategy. "Americans need to ask themselves if they've ever befriended an unrepentant terrorist or had a convicted felon help them buy their house, because those aren't smears. Those are true facts about Barack Obama,"

According to the NY Times: Obama-“They’d rather try to tear our campaign down than lift this country up,” he told several thousand supporters at a rally Sunday. “That’s what you do when you’re out of touch, out of ideas and running out of time.” Here's Barack Obama's answer ad:
