Dark Time in America, as Republicans Personally Try to Destroy Obama to Win Presidency

My wife finally came to the realization that she now HATES Republicans. I came to this conclusion a long time ago. (Qualifier: not all Republicans are as bad as the leadership and its thug party operatives.) But what we see in the media now make Joe McCarthy look like a community organizer. Why hate? It's a party that exposes "country first," their first big lie, all the while they are willing to win at all costs. Even if it means destroying the founding fathers grand experiment.

The following comments are so hideous and disconcerting, that it's hard to imagine fellow Americans so hell bent on a doctrine of hate and division.

SCHIEFFER: That sounds like you’re saying he’s somehow unpatriotic, which seemed to be the underlying theme of what she said yesterday, Congresswoman.

WILSON: Well, he has talked down about America. You know, we’ve always had this history of saying, “Well, you know, politics ends at the water’s edge.” It didn’t for Barack Obama. He’s been critical not only of the President but of American policy and hence has kind of a negative view of America in the world. That’s not unusual frankly among liberals in kind of post-Vietnam America, to say that America is the problem. I think Sarah Palin believes that America is part of the solution. We are an exceptional country. We are a force for good. And we need to talk about the good things we do.

Or this attack from another elected official who knows better than to say this:

STEPHANOPOULOS: Senator Martinez, let me begin with you. Florida has one of the highest foreclosure and unemployment rates in the country right now. And four Florida polls since the financial crisis hit all show Barack Obama ahead. So as the Obama campaign charges, is your campaign desperate to change the subject?

SEN. MEL MARTINEZ (R), FLORIDA: Well, look, for sure, the economy hurt the McCain campaign in Florida. Florida has been very hard-hit, as you just stated. The fact of the matter is that there is much to be done yet. The fact of the matter is that Florida is far from being over. Florida is going to be close all the way to the end. McCain was well ahead in Florida before the economic crisis hit. I believe once this campaign gets beyond that immediate crisis that Florida is going to come back to the McCain camp.
