Hollywood Celebrity Fred Thompson Fills GOP Convention With Lethal Dose of Irony

Former Senator, Hollywood actor and CELEBRITY Fred Thompson delivered the GOP conventions biographical speech on John McCain as only an experienced performer could emote.

Not only was watching this first full day of military admiration and nationalism enough to scare the daylights out of sane peace loving nations around the world, but Thompson showed us why these conservative ideologues are so dangerous to the future of our young democratic experiment.

It was a night of irony. It's not lost on anyone how strangely excited Republicans are about a vice presidential pick no one knows anything about. It's borderline rabid. Yet as celebrity Fred Thompson puts it, liberals and their friend in the media are the ones "in a state of panic."

And how ironic is it when Thompson promised, "When she and John McCain get to Washington, they're not going to care how much the alligators get irritated, they're going to drain that swamp."

After all, the Republican Congress and president filled the swamp in the first place. I guess we could spend all our time letting the Republican Party screw things up for four years, then spend the next four years watching them fix their mistakes. It kind of leaves us in the same place forever.
