The John McCain comment about the "fundamentals of this country are strong" as Wall Street burned, is already been roundly criticized as completely out of touch with the real world. For McCain to claim that fundamentals referred to hard working Americans, you'd have to be delusional, or desperate as hell. It was so "fundamentally" ridiculous not even the media was fooled. But wait, we haven't heard from Sarah Palin:
(AP) - Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin said Wednesday that Democrats were out of bounds for criticizing John McCain when he said the fundamentals of the economy are strong.
In an interview with Fox News Channel, Palin said: "It was an unfair attack on the verbiage that Sen. McCain chose to use because the fundamentals, as he was having to explain afterwards, he means our work force, he means the ingenuity of the American people. And of course, that is strong and that is the foundation of our economy."
Wrong! In this short compilation of McCain's use of "fundamental," the first clip shows McCain saying "economic fundamentals."
McCain said, "economic fundamentals," which specifically excludes the American labor force. We're talking ideology, free markets, capitalism and not the American labor force.
McCain rival Barack Obama and his fellow Democrats have been hammering McCain for maintaining his oft-stated position on Monday that "the fundamentals of our economy are strong" even as Wall Street spiraled downward. By that afternoon, with the markets falling amid other bad financial news, McCain was using a more dire tone. He now is calling the financial woes "one of the most severe crises in modern times."
ALERT: Tina Fey should be seen but not heard?
Sarah Palin also said she watched Tina Fey impersonate her last weekend on "Saturday Night Live" - but only with the volume turned off.
"I thought it was hilarious. I thought she was spot on," Palin said. "Didn't hear a word she said, but the visual, spot on." She said people in Alaska have remarked on the similarities for years, and that she once dressed up as Fey for Halloween.
And like Bill Clinton's "I never inhaled" comment, I think Palin is saying “I watched, but I didn’t hear.”
Spot on. Ah, the curious mind. Or is it that she just can’t take the heat?
