Condi’s Ironic Disconnect Frightens Me in our Ego Driven Nation

Condi Rice vacationed during the Russian incursion into Georgia, and received absolutely no criticism from the press or the flaccid Democratic Party of dodos.

Despite the administrations continued saber rattling and insistence on keeping the nuke option on the table for any country in their crosshairs, they've miss the connection when similar behavior from Russia reflects back at them, like their image in a mirror. It’s what I call the “ironic disconnect.”

Take a look at this excerpt of the McClatchy Newspapers story, “Rice warns Moscow about its bomber runs off Alaska.”
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice ruled out accelerating Georgia's admission to NATO in response to the Russian invasion. But she warned Moscow that it is playing "a very dangerous game.” "Russia is a state that is unfortunately using the one tool that it has always used whenever it wishes to deliver a message and that's its military power," Rice told reporters. "That's not the way to deal in the 21st century." Rice said Russia has raised questions about its place in the international community through the invasion and other actions.

Irony Missed: A state, like the U.S., that uses one tool, military power, to deliver their message.

Irony Missed: Even though that’s not the way to deal in the 21st century, going to war in Iraq was so….20th century?

Irony Missed: The world questioning the U.S.’s place in the international community, after an invasion of Iraq. Or other actions, like not negotiating with N. Korea, Iran, France…? It's so 20th century.

It’s true Bush has made similar comments, but I know that no one will want to hear my argument because I hate Bush, really really hate him, like anyone would hate the school yard bully).

Why can’t they see the irony? Ego.

What we have here, is an ego driven nation.
