I’ve lost my excitement about Barack Obama. Sure he's thrilled crowds with his message of change, but I don’t think any of it really matters anymore. Instead of firmly believing in his vision, he quickly backs away. I'm not sure it's a good quality or not, but he seems to think the opposition party wants to compromise and be bipartisan. Earth to Barack...Oh, what the hell. So far, Obama has somehow lost the backing of the press and his message, all because of the McCain game of distraction:
He lost on very successful trip abroad. McCain beat him up badly with silly arguments about getting to much media attention and undermining the presidency. He is now branded a "celebrity.' Oh well. The media let McCain get away with it. So what's new?
Obama lost on the firm Democratic stand against drilling. AP reported: Obama said he would be willing to support limited additional offshore oil drilling if that's what it takes to enact a comprehensive policy to foster fuel-efficient autos and develop alternate energy sources. John McCain, who earlier dropped his opposition to offshore drilling, has been criticizing Obama for clinging to his opposition as gasoline prices topped $4 a gallon. Polls indicate these attacks have helped McCain gain ground on Obama. Obama said in the Post interview “The Republicans and the oil companies have been really beating the drums on drilling. And so we don't want gridlock. We want to get something done."

This reversal was the straw that broke the camels Barack for me.
Maybe we need another four years of Republican politics to kill the rabid GOP elephant. I’m pretty sure we’re about to find out.
