Next Industrial Revolution-Green Economy

It’s time to shift out of the Republican frame, the misdirection play of a mythical global warming problem, to a reality based plan for the green industrial revolution. Resist the temptation to continue their debate. It’s over.

It’s time we create the “frame” around the most important economic issue of our time, and draw a hard line against compromising our position. When confronted by a Republican ideologue, your response (frame) should in the form of this question: Do you support the idea of a green economy and would you consider it be the next industrial revolution? I would pay almost anything to see their expression.

A new report by the Center for American Progress is a primer on just what all this really means:

A new report…provides a snapshot of what kinds of jobs are needed to build a green economy in the United States. We focus on six key strategies for attacking global warming and highlight some of the major "green jobs" associated with each of these approaches.

The six green strategies we examine here are: building retrofitting, mass transit, energy-efficient automobiles, wind power, solar power, and cellulosic biomass fuels. We show that the vast majority of jobs associated with these six green strategies are in the same areas of employment that people already work in today, in every region and state of the country.

We present …what the average wages are in each state for each of these job types. We then also provide data on the national employment picture for each of the job categories we examine.
