Everything public has to be maintained; schools, office buildings, buses, train tracks...

If we turned all these things over to the private sector, they would pay for upkeep in the price of their services. The costs are the same, or more, and the people pay regardless.

That's the crazy part of Fitzgerald's argument; the state gets a whole rail system, and we just have to maintain it. We even have a train builder in Milwaukee because of this project, a company Republican continue to bash.Democurmudgeonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16336177394503335112noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7183447461205976739.post-55958029061011187882010-08-24T14:23:01.011-05:002010-08-24T14:23:01.011-05:00This proves Scott Fitzgerald is a bit close minded...This proves Scott Fitzgerald is a bit close minded. I respect his logic that WI won't have enough funds for operation and upkeep. And that may be true, today. But with a high speed rail line, economic activity is expected to increase in the major cities.

The problem is, republicans like turning complex problems into seemingly 'simple' problems that they can handle. But we won't be able to tackle economic stagnation, population increases, and energy independence by playing it safe and taking small steps.

It's time for a bold new plan. If Republicans had their way, Neil Armstrong would never have taken that first step on the moon.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7183447461205976739.post-67540903862727750262010-08-24T13:51:33.782-05:002010-08-24T13:51:33.782-05:00I took a look at the site.
